To be added to culture media in order to counteract the action of disinfectants and antiseptics.

SOLUTION
It is therefore necessary to add to the culture medium an effective neutraliser which counteracts the action of:
- quaternary ammonium compounds
- phenolic compounds
- aldehydes
- halogenated compounds
- hexachlorophen, formol and ethanol.
COMPOSITION
- Lecithin
- Polysorbate
- L-Histidine
- Sodium thiosulfate
Dose: add 100 ml of ready-to-use neutraliser to 900 ml of previously sterilised prepared medium.

PROBLEM
Microbiogical surface monitoring techniques are based on the recovery of contaminants (bacteria, yeasts...) with the use of contact plates or slides which are then incubated.
Microbiogical air monitoring techniques are based on the recovery of contaminants (bacteria, yeasts...) through impact or sedimentation into Petri dishes which are then incubated.
Since the premises monitored are regularly disinfected, antiseptic and disinfectant traces may also be recovered together with the samples. These compounds inhibit the growth of the collected organisms in the incubated culture medium.
