For the detection of Listeria monocytogenes in meat and meat products it is advisable to carry out a pre-enrichment in UVM-I broth followed by an enrichment in UVM-II broth.
Preparation of pre-enrichment broth UVM-I:
- Suspend 54.4 g/l distilled water.
- Autoclave 121°C/15 min.
Preparation pre-enrichment broth UVM-II:
- Add one vial of UVM-II Supplement Merck 4039 to 1 litre of pre-enrichment broth UVM-I cooled to 45°C.
