Chromocult Coliform Agar

Selective agar for the simultaneous detection of total coliforms and E. coli in drinking water and processed food samples.

READING
E. coli: dark blue to violet colonies.
Coliforms other than E. coli:
red colonies.
Other enterobacteria:
colourless colonies.

Peptone 3.0
Sodium chloride 5.0
Sodium dihydrogen phosphate 2.1
Di-sodium hydrogen phosphate 2.6
Tryptophane 1.0
Sodium pyruvate 1.0
Tergitol 7 0.15
Sorbitol 1.0
Cefsulodin 0.01
Chromogenic mixture 0.2
Agar-agar 10.0
Final pH: 6.8 ± 0.1 at 25°C.

Selective agar for the simultaneous detection of total coliforms and E. coli in drinking water and processed food samples.
DIRECTIONS
Suspend 26 g/litre.
Heat in a boiling water bath or in free flowing steam stirring until complete dissolution (approx. 35 min).
Do not autoclave.
Allow to cool down to 45°C and pour plates.
The medium should be clear and colourless.
